Ducklings day out... pic's and video

wildsky.. same thing for my babies. First pool was a small casserole dish, next it was a pan such as you are using now.
Now, it's a crab shaped sandbox!

I'm getting a little "pop-up" type pool today, soft plastic, but not blow up - so I hope they don't dig claws through it.
Its 8 feet wide and 18 inches deep. (Enough room for kids and ducks all in it together!

Now you've given me an idea, I bet they'd be pretty happy down in the basement - lots of creepy crawlies down there...

They're to cute, and they learn FAST - I went out to bring their little butts back inside and they ran away from me!

thats why you gotta carry that camera everywhere with you. might think about using your dryer vent as a heat source, that blowing on a piece of old thick steel might help you out in the winter. wouldn't want the exhaust air blowing where they would have to breath it though.

get one of those hard plastic pools from Wallworld for 9$ and bury it in the ground. bigger scovies hav huge cat like claws and will go through that soft vinyl like butter.

I tried one of those soft sided pools for my ducks.. they were afraid of it. As a kid, our ducks swam in it all the time... they would just walk up to the sides and push them down to get it.

If you bury a pool, how do you clean it?

My ducks won't swim in water that is dark. picky critters! I have to change their pool every 2 - 3 days. I am on a well, and this small pool is all that I can give them at this point.

I am going to bury a pool or use a liner eventually - I will make a hole in it - connect a plug and a pipe to drain the water out - I just have to find a good spot for it.... so it will actually DRAIN out.
