Ducklings died after drinking water

If they were deprived water for some period they will gorge on the water. This can kill them by lowereing body temp or electrolyte imbalance. Other poultry dont drink that much water so it does not happen. Siezing is the typical symptom followed shortly with death.
really?!?! i don’t give my ducks water at night, will that kill them?????

No, since they are sleeping they dont need water.
My ducks don’t sleep all night. I always try to make sure they have water at lock up. I figure they will be very thirsty by morning. But I didn’t know they could/would gorge themselves on water and die.

It was room temp. Should it have been warm to the touch? It's been very hot so I though it would be better than warm :(
Welcome to BYC. I found out the hard way that if they run out of water on cold or hot days that giving them water that is less than 102 degrees can kill them. :hit The first sign that this is happening is they will start to stagger like they are drunk. If you can catch them at this stage, and get them warmed up, it is possible to save them.
