I think it's needed because losing one is okay but losing so many becomes a concern..
Hopefully it gets figured out soon..

What is necropsy? I've never heard of it... @WVduckchick I never thought of that. I'll definitely check the date on the bag. I was on the 3rd or 4th bag of pellets with the newest batch. It never even crossed my mind the food might have been bad!

Possibly it's a disease too that gets them at that same age..
Contact a local vet and the will know of a state lab too.

Necropsy is like an autopsy for humans, but done on a bird. They cut the bird open and look at all the insides to try to determine cause of death.
*Most states require that the bird be cold, but not frozen.

I have the name of a local vet who does a lot with birds. They aren't open today so I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. Its all so weird. I'm really hoping I can keep my last two alive. One seems to be doing really well. The other appears to have a nasty case of bumblefoot on top of everything else. I'm going to ask the vet about him whenever I get ahold of them. I'm trying my hardest but these dang ducks are giving me a run for my money!

So I have what feels like a weird question. Does anyone else have a duck who's poop floats? My one that is battling bumblefoot has the SMELLIEST poop I've ever smelt...and most of it floats. Any ideas? Lol

Let us know if you find out what caused them to die. I’d like to know.. I had 15 ducklings died of the same thing this year. I hope your other two live!

I’ve seen poop float before I don’t think that’s unusual. And depending on what they eat can determine the smell. How are you two ducklings doing? @CrazyDuckLady86

To have a necropsy done, refrigerate until you are ready to ship or deliver. If none of the labs are close, call and ask them if you can use their FedEx account number as this will save you money. Also ask them for packing instructions.
