Ducks and bedtime?

I had a friend who was new to raising ducks and one afternoon she was frantic and in tears because it was raining and she could not get the ducklings to go in the duck house she provided for them. She was chasing them in circles and the few times she chased them inside they ran out before she could close the door to keep them inside and out of the rain. She cried out to me, in desperation for my assistance in her endeavor, "the ducks are getting wet!"

Knowing how ducks love water, I had to stop myself from laughing hysterically at her predicament. I told her to stop chasing the ducks for a moment and to just step back and watch them for signs of stress. One had managed to injure a leg so I suggested we catch it to examine the leg but all the ducks were wagging their tails and puddle stomping just as happy as could be once she stopped chasing them around the yard. We taped the leg of the injured duck and it soon ran out to join the rain dance. The Pacific Northwest is so ideal for ducks because, unlike chickens, ducks love the rain. Mine come running any time I turn on the hose.

You could have written that about me and my ducks tonight! Like teenagers they were, refusing to go to bed! But i have seen foxes round these parts so they must be tucked up safe & sound overnight. Shame on me for spoiling all their fun :(
