Ducks And Geese

In the spring I’m planning on hatching ducks and geese together but I know there’s a good chance that the geese could all be ganders. Should I be concerned that-if that is the case-the ganders might try to pair with the duck hens? If the problem arises can it be fixed by getting the ganders geese? Other than that, are there any other concerns about keeping ducks and geese together? Thanks!

I really only have my experience with my ducks and geese. They were not hatched together but they did grow up together and got along just fine until the first mating season for the geese. Then the geese were intent on doing away with the ducks. Again, only my experience. Others here have much different tales to tell I am sure.

I only had 1 gander first off, he was hatched by a Muscovy duck so he actually thought he was a giant Muscovy for 5 yrs. [I am only guessing but he wasn't around other geese just ducks] lol
He did mate with the female Muscovy's they invited him and he paired off with his Muscovy mama until I brought home a female goose for him. [Still took him awhile to accept her]. But yes ganders will mate with female ducks and will fight with drakes. I doubt you'd hatch all ganders but your ratio still maybe off some which would make it that you would still need extra females. Geese will do fine with 1 goose maybe 2 but drakes need at least 3 and up female ducks. Or your drakes may try and mate with your female geese. Or chickens depending on what poultry you already have.

Thanks so much! I understand that it’s pretty unlikely to hatch all ganders but it was just a worry in the back of my mind so I figured I might as well ask :)
