Ducks and hurricanes

I am in new Orleans, and I am planning on evacuating for a cat 1... My rabbits and myself can not be without power... I would rather have the creature comforts. My husband is a first responder and won't be home, so I wouldn't want to be home by myself during a storm anyway. I was thinking about leaving the 3 ducks in a pen in my laundry room. I just know I would be worried sick about them. My plan now is to pack up everyone (2 big dogs, 2 rabbits, and three ducks... In a crv) and take off. (I am planning on bringing ear plugs cause I am in store for a very loud car ride lol)

Just depends on what goes on today I guess.

The forecasters totally blew this one.And continue to blow it. Me and the quackers have rode them all out here. Even Ivan and Opal. But I dont reccomend this for anyone by any means. It will ALWAYS be better safe than sorry. The main thing you have to kinda think of is put yourself in the ducks pen. Is there any kind of a wind break in your pen?. If your pen collapses will the birds not escape? Is loose stuff secured that may hit the pen? This one is what i worry about the most of all. 100 mph wind not too concerned. 100 mph wind with a 2x3 sheet of plywood flying by. Oh yeah! Hope it s not too bad toward you Mrs magoo. Since even the europeans have a model track. I want one called imapean

Anyway my own personal prediction is even way more west than where they have it now. Good luck everyone though...where ever it lands.

Hope all goes well for my Louisiana friends. Praying yall dont get too much water and no damage.

Things are just starting to look up for us here in Larose, La. We took a good pounding but we are all still here and doing fine. All 25 of our ducks stayed out, along the levee and seemed to enjoy the wind. They'd spread their wings out soaking up the rain and flap like crazy when a gust would come up. It was neat to watch them. If at any time they wanted to go to their pin, they could have, but they never did!

Maybe getting ready for takeoff if needed?

Glad you're okay!

Five ducks. Just cram them into the kennel tighter and off you go.

By this time the hurricane has struck and there is more damage than predicted. I sure hope everybody got away safely.
