DUCKS AND WINTER

Hi, i never had ducks and I am thinking of getting them, i don't want to keep them as domestic ducks though. So i was wondering, where do FLIGHTLESS ducks go in the winter. I have a pond and it gets frozen sometimes, there are also many hawks,vultures, and coyotes. I live in upstate New York (Catskills Mountains)

If you purchase domestic ducks, they are domestic ducks and must be cared for like domestic ducks.

You might be able to get a permit and purchase some wild ducks and then those will fly away for the winter.

What would be best for you would be to work on the habitat around your pond and attract wold ducks. Then you could watch them and enjoy them and not have to take care of them.
