There is a ramp up into the coop. My new duck doesn't seem to understand how to climb on this ramp. The flat part of the ramp is wire (1" hardware cloth), but the ones i have seen on the internet have been wood with cleats. This duck has been kind of timid with everything. Does she need more help learning how to climb the ramp or do I need to replace the wire with wood?

Hello, my ducks have the wooden ramps and have no problems. Maybe it is the wire?

Mine have wood with cross treads for traction. They can climb it without issue. I think it's the wire. Ducks aren't perchers and don't like crossing things that don't seem solid.

How high is the ramp? I used to have a pretty tall ramp, and the ducks never figured it out. They would come down the ramp, but never went up it. They figured out a low ramp right away though.

I agree with the others about the wire, as well. Try something solid.

It's not the best quality photo. I took it at twilight. But here is a pic of my ramp with my ducks on it. It's a fairly steep ramp, but they learned.
