I have two ducks, a Pekin and a Muscovy and they’re a little over a month old. Out of nowhere the Muscovy who is usually very friendly with me has begun to run away from me whenever I try and pick him up. He’s never done that before and both of them seem to be a lot more panicked today and I’m not sure what’s wrong. They’re pets and have always been friendly, they still let me pet them, but are really anxious and don’t let me near them most of the time.

Ive had some very imprinted ducks go sour on me at about a month old. Like sourland seid perfectly they tend to become spooky. Unlike with raising puppies and and kittens you might find it best to just coexist with the ducks and stay hands off for awhile

The last flock I had I raised inside, had a great relationship with them until one day they hated me. I gave them space and just kept a good feeding schedule and they eventually warmed back up to me and I could pet them again. it took almost 9 months

be patient! Its very rewarding :)

all of my hand raised ducks let me cuddle them and will even come up to me and jump into my lap, but i let my newest two imprint on my other duck instead and they are definitely less friendly. while they do let me pet them, they get less and less friendly each day. i think i’ll stick with hand raising them
