Ducks in the garden

Zwei got away with eating a garlic clove once - I think small amounts might not be as much trouble as larger, but with anything, seems some ducks are more sensitive than others.

When I let the ducks into the garlic garden they appear to just be going for critters.

Of those, I've only planted peas, and my ducks ate them.

I also have ground cherry, but I am trying to eradicate it due to poisonous foliage. I have not seen ducks eating it, but they do not get the chance if I see it first.

The only plant I would swear to ducks not eating is mint.

Mine won't eat the mint either but still drill in it. They also won't touch Rosemary, but will eat basil.

Heres an update at first my ducks didn't bother my garden then they started eating the leaves on my cauliflower plants and one day we were out picking beans they started demolishing my onion plants eating the tops. I kept them penned for a few days and then they don't go to the garden anymore if they do we chase them out.

lilmiz Thanks for the update. This kind of reassures what I thought. I'm assuming your ducks were just eating the bugs for the first few days but after they ran out of bugs, they moved on to the plants. My garden is quite large (so there might be a steady supply of insects). Maybe I'll let them roam for just a day or two to bring down the potato beetle population then let them do it again after I harvest.
