Ducks love drainage ditches!

Sometimes i wonder how closely related the duck is to the pig… I have more »mouseholes« in my yard than mice.

We had an incredibly wet summer, and the ditch along the road not only filled with water, it overflowed into the fenced yard. The ducks were thrilled!!! No longer did they have to waddle into a plastic baby pool -- they could swim like wild ducks! Imagine their disappointment when the waters receded. I'm sure they wish I was ambitious enough to dig them their own drainage ditch. Loved the video. You have a nice flock of project managers.

The water cannot raise high enough here to flood the yard, actually would it rain enough for the ditch along the road (aka four mile creek) to flood my yard you would likely all be dead! - I am ~100 foot above the road… sadly the mailbox and the trash-can are down there.
I actually thought about digging a little mud pool with an overflow for the ducks. The hill above my house is wet like a sponge, maybe i can dig the duck-creek and won't have to clean the duck-tub anymore.

Great video! I'm gonna have to do this as mine have made everything muddy! Spring is gonna be nuts for me this year, lol.

What kind of soil do you have? We are »blessed« with that sticky, slippery, red loam and the hill behind the house has no drainage at all and is riddled with underground springs.

It's all clay with about an inch of dirt on top. The north side of my house is flat with a lot of moss BD (before ducks). The south side is a hill that everything runs down and at the bottom is a seasonal creak that runs east to west. The east side has the coop which is now surrounded by mud, covered in straw and snow.
