Ducks not laying

Just wondered. My girl can fly pretty well when she wants to too. Wasn't sure if all Khaki's were like that or just mine. My pekin can't get 2 feet off the ground. 

This is the same for my two! My khaki spreads his wings and goes across the garden a couple of foot above the ground, my pekin just runs along behind flapping her wings and stomping!! Great entertainment!

Don't be discouraged by that. Even adult KC ducks that are reliable layers don't lay every single day of the year. It can be a lot more hit and miss when they first start. You might not get another egg for days, but it's no cause for concern, just a small disappointment. She'll probably ramp up in no time and you'll be wondering what you're going to do with all these eggs.

Umm, don't expect that to stop, Lynn. I've been doing this for years, and I'm still like that.

Got my second egg this morning!

she laid it at about 5:30am. I heard her in there making a strange noise and moving around a bunch so I went and checked and there it was. So exciting! I hope they keep laying while inside. I don't have to search all throughout the yard.
