Ducks on a Pond

Does anyone keep their ducks on or near a pond all year round? We have just dug a pond and I'm thinking about building a "raft" with their house floating in the middle of the pond. Has anyone seen this done or done it themselves?

I have seen several people do it. I think it is a great idea.
