I totally understand what you're saying. We now free range our ducks and they only go in at night, and even then they don't always want to do that.
When they were penned up in a run we tried to keep the food up higher and away from the water.
Ducks are very messy but completely adorable![]()
If you don't put them in a locked up secure coop at night you probably won't have to worry about them for long because something's going to get them. They are adorable ! Pretty funny to watch but I definitely dont think we could let them free range...they dont have an actual "coop" they go in at night they have an enclosed space under our chicken coop we have straw under there for them to get under there if they want but they honestly hang out in the run in the grass or the water most of the time
They are in the run at night that is secure with a lock on the gate and has thick wire all around it..very small holes in the wire so nothing can get inIf you don't put them in a locked up secure coop at night you probably won't have to worry about them for long because something's going to get them.
Glad to hear that! Great set up!They are in the run at night that is secure with a lock on the gate and has thick wire all around it..very small holes in the wire so nothing can get in
It's very secure and the ducks can go under the coop at night to get into their little shelter but they dont they stay out in the run but it's very secure we made sure of it
We used chicken wire on the very top and stapled the crap out of it lol and the sides is that really small squared wire that's really stiff so hoping nothing can get in there....the stinkin ducks wont go under the coop at night though they either hang out in their pool or just lay in the grass hahaGlad to hear that! Great set up!
Yea it's sliced my hands open multiple times I hate it lolya, that stinking square wire is called hardware cloth and it makes you bleed! It does keep bad things from getting in though!
yes, I know and feel your pain but it keeps our ducks safe because nothing will get through it!Yea it's sliced my hands open multiple times I hate it lol
how do you keep grass in your run? I have tried everything I can think and can't keep grass in the chicken, or the duck runThey are adorable !
