I have 5 ducks that are like 6 months old. They keep trying to drown one of them? Like when they are in the water they will all push his (I think, I get one egg a day but can’t tell who lays it) head under water. Now they start to be mean to him on the land too. Can I get them to be nicer?

Sounds like mating to me. I think you may have only one female, and many males. This is extremely dangerous, multiple males can, and will drown and kill a female. You have to voice sex them and see if any have a drake feather (curly feather by the end of the tail). Here is a link that should help http://www.majesticwaterfowl.org/artquacks.htm. Remove the males or take the female out, but just be sure to separate them.

I bet they are mating. It seems very mean and violent, but they just don't have arms so they hold on with their mouths and end up pushing the bottom duck under. My ducks do it when they mate, too.

But it sounds like you have too many boys and only one girl, which is not safe for your girl. She'll get harassed and can actually get drowned. Can you post photos, or video,or learn how to tell the genders apart?

The ones with the curly tail feathers are likely boys. Are there 4? If you do have 4 boys and 1 girl it will be very unkind, in my opinion, to keep them together. They will force her to mate with them many times a day and probably hurt her badly and maybe kill her.

You have 4 options, in my opinion.

1. Rehomed some boys.
2. Get more girls. (If your coop is big enough)
3. Put a divider in your coop.
4. Rehome the girl

nobody here wants ducks. the boys would just be killed for duck meat and i can’t get more girls i don’t have enough room and anytime i seperate the one she just cries and tries to get back to them
