Ducks were brutally attacked. PLEASE HELP.

I have looked in my area for an older duck but i may need to broaden my search to a few different locations.
during the day she is fine. We have her in a fenced in area with her pool, food, and water. Plus there are eyes on her almost constantly.
Maybe until you get her a few friends she can sleep inside that will help her feel secure and also relieve your mind that she is safe.

Did you look here on BYC we have a re homing thread and buy sell trade thread.

Okay, so my girl is doing awesome. She is so full of life. We still have not purchased any duck friends for her as we are still weighing the options.

There she is!!
I had a few questions.

As far as treats go.. what do you reccomend and how are they served? Frozed? Cooked?

I know someome reccomend a mirror because shes alone. Is this like a mirror you find at pet stores or something different.

I want to let her onto our pond but im scared she wont come back at night and i absolutely will not leave her outside at night again. Do ducks come back to their bed at night?

Please, if anyone else has any information for me... id love to hear it!!! I need all the help i can get at this point.

She is beautiful!! So glad she is better, you did an excellent job nursing her back to health...

Yes, the mirrors for parrots etc would work, or even the ones intended for babies... just needs to be an unbreakable one so there's no risk of it breaking into razor sharp shards that could injure her...

Frozen peas thawed out are ausually a hit and so are mealworms... check here for many treat options for ducks...

As to the pond, are you sure there aren't any snapping turtles in it? They will not hesitate to bite of duck toes, webs or worse... please be careful with that, there has been a lot of snapping turtle injuries to ducks this year...

Since you just have the one, you might consider her as a house pet. Please check out "show us your house ducks," thread - humans end up being their flock. She is a doll

Thank you! I havent seen any snapping turtles out there and honestly did not even think of that so thank you!
Do you put the mirror in with her at night? Or should she be able to access it during the day?

Yes, she is attached to us for sure. I have considered her being a house duck but im not sure how she would like it. She has a pool she spends most of her time in now and loves to swim (of course).

Definitely at night and if you can, when she is alone during the day at least... let her guide you... if she's acting lonely, quiet then let her have access to one all the time...

And very welcome... another member had a drakes backside get bitten by a turtle too... if there's any doubt, don't let her out in the pond...
