Ducks

I did okay with crested ducks and I would love to have another go with them. The rule is you never breed a crested with a crested because of a fatal gene, but they bred quite happily with other duck breeds. The ultimate goal was to get a really good crest. Not easy. I remember around that time I got into buff orpingtons in a big way, very nice ducks.

You can only breed them with other muscovies if you want them to keep having ducklings. If you cross breed them with any other type of duck their hybrid babies will be infertile, but that's ok if you only want to eat the eggs.
I did breed a few muscovy x ducklings and I knew they were infertile, but they were truly lovely ducks

Hi and :welcome I have Muscovy[even a drake] love him. But I do understand some don't like them or drakes in general since they can be a pain once they get hormonal. I just happen to be one of the crazy ones who love drakes and will work at making them behave and be a good flock member.

My Muscovy drake has 4 girls of his own Muscovy, then I have Runners and Buffs and he never mates females he sticks to his own. But I have seen My Runner mate with my Muscovy girls his first hormonal year he was a wild man. All my ducks live very good with each other I even have chickens and geese in the mix. Have you thought about getting fertile duck eggs for when your girls go broody. My Muscovy females {3} sat on Runner and Buff eggs and did an awesome job hatching and raising. So I can vouch that Muscovy will live very well with Runner and Buff ducks.
