Ducks!

Sounds like Flanagan and Cornelia have found a pretty great family!

People here have literally been life-savers for my runner ducks. It's wonderful to get fast, helpful responses when an emergency pops up.

I'm glad to hear you are looking forward to the eggs. I've actually had been asked if duck eggs are edible; people are funny!

Welcome, Lizz, to BYC. It's good to meet you!

Hi all, We're raising two silver appleyards. My daughter wants to show them as "companion animals" for 4H and we're looking forward to some eggs. These two (Flanagan & Cornelia) are loads of fun and worth all the mess. This is our first "go" at raising ducks and I've found myself on this forum searching for answers so frequently...it's a fantastic forum! I wish I'd have found a forum like this when my daughter was a newborn; sometimes these ducklings remind me of what it's like to be a new parent! Anyways, it's good to be here and I'm looking forward to learning more about our new duck friends...and making some new people friends :).

If your daughter would like a duck companion I recommend call ducks. They are usually a little less messy than larger ducks but they only lay 50-70 green tinted eggs a year. I also recommend pekins since they are OKAY at laying but they are known to be friendly.
