Duckwing Photography: Lacy Duckwing's Photography Thread

Modern cell cameras are better than my first DSLR in many ways. Granted, you're more restricted in terms of lenses and accessories, but it's fa more portable and versatile in a very small package.

Oh! Another thought, Gopro's are pretty cheap and you can grab high res frames from the video pretty easily. Maybe another cost-effective option @Noraaaaa
Yeah. There are tradeoffs in that price range, unfortunately.
Okay thank you all!!!

@Lacy Duckwing Hi! Is there any cameras you recommend for beginners that are under the 300 dollar range if possible?
I think @azurbanclucker answered this the best. Finding cameras, at least good photo quality cameras under that price isn't easy. Going on eBay, you might be able to find a good used one, but you don't have the guarantee that'll it be up to par or not have issues.

After wanting to go to one for years, I finally made it to an ice race last Saturday! This race track is fully on Moosehead Lake, Maine, with about two feet of ice under it. Here are a few of the shots I took:

Awesome!

Have you ever tried pan/zoom when shooting motorsport?

Like this? The idea is to shoot with a slower shutter speed and lock focus on the car, so you get a sharp subject with some motion blurring into the scene. These aren't great, but they get the idea across. circa 2010 and I never cleaned them up.

No, I haven't. In fact, I've never heard of it before. I've seen pictures like these, but I never knew how they were done or what they were called. Great pictures, by the way! I like the last one the best!

Thanks! I got some great shots of that guy including one where he's all crossed up, the car's spinning and he's got his tongue out trying to gather it back up. (it's a Lotus Elan).

Here's a primer from Canon Asia. It covers the basics, though you may have to fiddle with settings for your own rig.

Oh, wow, I'd love to see those if you don't mind sharing. (I was wondering what the car was. I'm not that familiar with the Lotuses.)

Thanks for sharing this!
