Duct tape confessions

You don't want to know...

My friend was a stewardess for a major airline, they used to when the doors would not shut right!!!

My dad on the other hand did not like duct tape, his thing was electrical tape, it was everywhere!

let's see...
  • tape down the behind-the-engine wing hatch on my ex's twin engine plane... the latch broke while we were on catalina island and the thing popped open after we took off. scared the bejeebers out of me! apparently when the hatch pops open during flight you 1) loose all the stuff that was in that storage compartment and it goes flying past the window 2) the plane shakes like it's coming apart! who knew!
  • the rear window of my explorer is taped into the hatch right now, waiting for the hubby to return from CA and fix the hinges. I could have gotten new ones but they're like $90. each! fortunately the car's black and so's the tape so it's not too obvious
  • temporary shoe holder for a horse that partially pulled one off
  • water-proofing on dressings for horses, sheep, dogs, goats especially on feet and hooves
  • making insullated hand grips on tools
  • covering the hand-grips on my metal horse trailer so they don't fry you when you try to open the doors in the summer
  • padding the frame joints on tensioned fabric temporary shelter/garage so they don't wear through the cover tarp
  • making the soles of my ex's slippers waterproof so he could wear them out on the porch when he went out to smoke
  • made an exact body dress form to use when custom fitting costumes - the dress forms you can buy aren't shaped like any real person - especially not me! this was fun, actually... you need a set of long johns, a couple rolls of duct tape, and two people. you put the long johns on, then they cover you in duct tape.

yep the whole person! (ok, maybe not the head). cut it off, mount it on a pole and fill it with the spray-can rigid foam insulation. there you go! body double!
and because it contains the entire compendium of uses for duct tape: http://thereifixedit.failblog.org/

I once used duct tape to fix angel wing on a duck lol. I had no other wrapping material so i found paper medical tape that would not rip out the feathers and wrapped in that then put duct tape over that to hold it all on and so my duck could not tear it off lol. Worked great!

Used it for anything and everything. Had a hole in tail pipe. Cut ends off of a beer can and split it down the middle. Wrapped it around tailpipe and secured it with duct tape.

Radiator hose repair.

Got another year or so wear out of my favorite old worn out cowboy boots.

Currently, I have 2 tree grafts taped with it.
