I just experimented with a duct-tape neck "saddle".
I took a 4" x 6" piece of cloth and covered it with duct tape (a lovely floral print) on one side. Then I tore off two 4 " pieces of tape and stuck them to one end of the cloth, on the duct tape side to form fasteners.
I got Joyce, my Buff Brahma with the missing neck feathers fresh off the nest, so she was pretty relaxed and she let me try it on her. Except for one piece getting stuck to her feathers, which I finally got unstuck, it worked great! It fits snug, flexible enough for her to bend her neck, but snug enough she wouldn't be able to slip it off.
She tolerated it, patiently sitting in my lap, but we had a conversation where we both agreed that the others would descend on her for wearing something so funny-looking, and they'd probably peck parts of her that are still covered in feathers, and it wasn't worth it since she has new feathers well on their way.
But it's doable in case she ever really needs a neck covering in the future.
