Ohhh such cuties I am jealous.

I have been waiting for my first try with 10 silikes
and Had power outages. they were to hatch on the 23.
so here I sit watching if they make any moves.
Lost 6 BCmarens n 11 Buff orps. I think now my silkies may be gone.. Im losing count.

We had another polish today. She looks horrible and has membrane all over her, but she's strong and kicking.
We think that one of the polish is going to die.. His name is Dinky. He has bad legs, we think, and is missing a toenail on one foot. He's veeeery tiny. Hopefully he'll make it, but.. It's getting to be doubtful. =[
Insiderart, those are such cute chicks. But that one is definitely not very silkie-ish.. =[

Really? I don't remember mine looking like that.. But lucky!! We had them, they were SO NICE. They would jump onto you at feeding time. Unfortunately, the nicest chickens are always the first ones to get eaten by a fox.

Dinky died, but the last one hatched and I just heard it peep. I'm downstairs, it's upstairs. It's SO LOUD. It's ugly, though, it has membrane all over it and generally needs a bath. We have named it Crunchy.

RIP Dinky and Sticky. You will be missed.

Well, GO Crunchy!!! I hate the mess covered ones...

My hatch is finally going with the first one pipped yesterday and hatched this morning, the others appear later, but at least one is peeping back at the early hatcher. Go babies go...

Then turkeys next week, then guineas the week after that... then.... OMG.

Haha, thanks insider. Crunchy seems like it's willing to live, but it is TEENY TINY! Smaller than all the other chicks. My mom thinks she's mixed with some sort of banty.. But hopefully my half silkie, half welsummer eggs will hatch so then Crunchy can have a friend.

Our next hatch will be penedesencas, because my mom REALLY wants dark eggs layers, and says I can breed them..

I'm so excited. We just need to find someone with them who can spare at least a dozen. Their eggs are soooo beautiful.. And the crele variety is just like, wow.
