Due to hatch the 17th! *3 chicks so far!*

I wish someone could answer my question...The egg still looks the same but now it's peeping loud enough to be heard outside of the bator? Oh and I just noticed a second egg is pipping.

So far 2 chicks are out and another ones pipping. How long after they all hatch until I can take them out and put them in the brooder? Oh and so far they are both yellow. I got a quick look at the parent birds and they were mostly large tan chickens but a couple of smaller silver and darker colored ones. They had a large colorful rooster and a small colorful rooster.

It can take several hours for the chicks to get out, but it depends on the chick. Have the brooder ready and warmed up. You should wait until the chicks are fully fluffed and then you can take them out VERY quickly, but I'm no expert. I've never even hatched anything before. Please post pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chicken boy sam

Well we have 3 now but I'm pretty sure the hatch is over. The rest haven't peeped or pipped yet but I'll leave them for another day or so. I'm really frustrated since I don't know if they are hens or not. I live where you can't have chickens but hens would be practically undetectable in my clubhouse/shed. Roosters are way out of the question though. If I can determine if they are hens soon I could start convincing my parents to let me keep them.

What kind of chicks are those? After a while, you'll be able to see the ones that are developing lopperdops (combs) first will be the roos. Best of luck to you!!!!! chicken boy sam

When I try to sex them after hatching I look at their wing feathers........if they are the same length they are a boy and if the are different lengths, then it should be a girl. By wing feathers I mean the tips of their wings.

Hey, since you were hoping for at least 2 at least you got 3!!
