Dumb dumb question

What is sop? I've seen it several times what does it mean? I'm sure it's a dumb question but its driving me crazy.

SOP- it means Standard Of Perfection, usually dealing with poultry and animals. Not a dumb question at all!

It’s basically like a show quality bird vs a Hatchery quail bird. Hatcheries don’t care if their birds meet breed standards or not, whereas most breeders for showing do, meaning they breed only the most desirable trait carrying birds.

Not really. They are into production rather than type.
