Hi guys! I have had chickens for a few years and was thinking about getting a few African or Toulouse geese but have a few basic questions first. First, do they need a pond or swimming area? Can geese fly or do I have to clip their wings?(I feel really dumb asking that question). Do they need a shelter at night or just a fenced area? Thanx a bunch, look forward to hearing all the wisdom.

Toulouse are too heavy to fly, but when they get The Zoomies they will certainly try - they will run, honking and flapping, like they're preparing for take-off, but will seldom get even a few inches off the ground when full grown.

Geese don't NEED a pool but, like ducks, need a bucket or waterer deep enough for them to dunk their bills to clear their nares. They can be quite happy standing in a kitchen dishpan full of water, as silly as it looks.

    They need shelter at night.
