DUMB QUESTION~ Mixed Breeds Sterile?

Always good to be prepared, I guess.

I was an anxious "first-time mum" too. I learned that it all works out for the best, even if it doesn't work out like we expected! Actually, I think I could apply that rule to life, lol!

hey guys, i was going to ask the very same dumb question!! lol i have these beautiful pekinXrunners i got from a lady, and she was sellling them for meat because she said they wont breed. But this is suck good news!! Im glad i got them. Wait, runners come from mallards, right? But my mom was asking me if they'd breed, and i wasnt sure because im generally a chicken person. we have two males and three females, blues and browns, and whites. i like them.

Pekin and runners are fine and should be able to reproduce. Be careful with the one that has the crest on the head. That gene can cause problems like seizures. It's not a big risk. It's more of an issue if both the male and female have the crest.

Help. I can't find an answer. My Muskovi had 2 babies with my rouen so i'm told they ARE sterile. What does that mean??!!!! If they lay eggs, will the eggs have yolks? That's what i can't figure out!

so some all of my Welsh harlequin s have mated with my blue runners and cayugas and my fawn and my buff and we already have three eggs will they be sterriel or not?

I believe that all those come from mallards so no they will not be sterile. It only happens if you mix ducks of 2 different species not breeds. Like crossing a horse with a donkey vs crossing a rahvan with a friesian. A horse and donkey are 2 different species so their offspring is usually sterile. But a rahvan and a friesian are both horses they are just different breeds of the same species so their offspring won't be sterile.
