In a group of unsexed chicks are there usually 1/2 male and 1/2 female?

Wondering what the odds of getting roos...

Ok...have fun now at my expense....

I have 10 I just hatched and Im thinking ALL are roos.

ok...here's a better question....how hard is it to find homes for bantam roos....

I didn't have alot of trouble with those, I guess because they are smaller, a little quieter, and they were really pretty colors. I got 3 bantams for the kids this year 2 are roo I think,

We just got bantam 3 chicks and I would love to get to get a couple more...but I'm afraid of not being able to find homes for a bunch of roos.

I know what you mean, I wish they could be safely sexed. Last year I got 7, and of those 7, 2 were hens.(I was kinda scared to tell you that).

Out of 24 we had 16 roos. When I was putting 36 eggs into the incubator I was hoping to end up with at least 12 hens.

1 roo got taken away by predators, 14 went to the freezer camp, 1 we kept. Out of 8 hens one was defected and had to go to the chicken heaven, 2 got taken away. So now we have 5 hens (4 are laying, one has 3 babies) and one roo. We'll see what the ratio would be with the 33 we hatched this year.

Somebody gave me a dozen fertile eggs once to put under a broody. Got a 100% hatch. Also got 100% roosters.
