Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

There's an awful lot of stupid out there, but it takes a special kind of stupid to have some of these beliefs.

For wayyyyy too many people, emotions have taken the place of rational thought ... but, then, it doesn't take a genius to feel. Says a lot about those college students who had to have a safe place where they could go color until they got over the results of the recent elections, doesn't it? Which, in turn, says volumes about "institutions of higher learning" these days. And, just when I thought I'd heard everything .... oy!

That would hurt my feelings too tbh. I'm very proud of my hens and their egg laying. My Easter Egger hasn't skipped a single day since she started! But her eggs are green and so not many people want to embrace it

LOL really? I am getting nervous because I don't think I got enough EE's to sate my family's need for the colorful eggs. Getting some Marans too. When I asked once we get our productive hens who would want the blue, green, or dark brown eggs there was a fight between family members. They all want the colorful eggs and not the brown or white eggs because they are 'boring' xD Hope my EE girls are productive. Of course a lot of my family are artists so they thing the colored eggs will look cool displayed in baskets on the kitchen counter. I may have underestimated and thought 3 were going to be plenty. My aunts might have to fight. >.<

It all comes back to people not knowing jack squat about where their food comes from. It's like they never bother to think about how it got to their plate. In today's age where you can learn just about anything, everyone's still clueless. I feel ya because I get excited about my breeds and their unique egg colors but no one else sees it the same way lol

I just have to say that I too feel the same way about all the different egg colors. My dh2b doesn't really get it, I mean he thinks they're cool but me I jumped for joy when we got a new blue layer(an EE btw) also when we got a light olive egger from an EE cross we are developing. Love those birds!!

Today we got our first quail egg although it was a shell less egg I don't care BC they're only six weeks tomorrow and I'm super impressed! Plus it's such a tiny little egg!!!

We got a hatchery cuckoo marans this spring and I like her. Her eggs are nice but they're really not much darker than the ISA browns we had gotten in 2015. This year I discovered that most of our brown egg layers were replaced by EE lol. With the exception of a few.

I had a whole carton of every shade of egg we get or nearly every shade layed out to show off on Christmas. When I walked into the kitchen to find DH2B cooking Christmas morning brunch with the eggs from that carton. Lol I could slapped him. Still it was quite funny. Despite that I had told him he was clueless lol.

I still want to get some Cayuga ducks for the black/slate gray bloomed eggs. I also want a really dark brown like from a black copper maran and a really dark green.

I would just love it if I could find some super nice plum colored Croad Langshan eggs and get a couple of those hens.

ETA I wish we had family fighting over our eggs. Story to follow.

My parents are divorced my father remarried a major city slicker. Although she tries to pretend she's not, and he has improved her some in that area.

My DH2B is from a farming family. DH2B's brother raised chickens and turkeys for the fair several years. My father grew up on a small farm. My Grandpa on my Mom's side also worked a small farm. DH2B and my friends are nearly all farmers, dating farmers, or married to farmers. All of DH2B's aunts and uncles were raised in a farming family(although mostly crops and cattle-they knew where their food came from).

So enough of the back story. We had a late Christmas this last weekend with DH2B's mother and siblings and while we were there I offered some of our fresh free range beautiful eggs to DH2B's sister whom is on a special diet right now. Knowing the health benefits of pastured and free range eggs over store bought I though she would be grateful. She laughed and told me they were too fresh. To fresh??????.... Well I could save you some for a couple weeks of you want. So basically I never did understand except that she said no store bought eggs are fine for her and that even though they're old and not as healthy they're cleaner and according to her less likely to get you sick and she just can't eat an egg that came out of a chicken's butt.. ..

I couldn't help myself guys! It was word vommit. I just looked at her said okay no problem and by the way the store bought eggs come from a chicken's butt too.

Oh my gosh! We live in a rural area surrounded by rural people! I mean holy crow! But it gets worse!

Same night we go to a new years eve party at a friend's. Where we begin a conversation with a friend of ours going to school for food sciences. She was pretty tipsy by this point but walked us over to the food table and asked us of we had eaten any of it. We told her not yet. She then told us thats good because none of its safe to eat because it wasn't prepared in a manufacturing plant(I believe she meant like a factory.) And it wasn't processed food. Ew she actually said processed food is the only safe food!!! Like whoa! This young woman is great love her to death. Could have slapped her. So of course eggs and our chicken meat got brought up(Yes sorry if that offends anyone. Of our birds we hatch out the spare cockerals are raised to eating age and processed humanely by us.) And she, well you can imagine, our eggs and meat are bad BC they aren't processed and carry salmonella and all that. I looked at her shocked and said your family raises cattle you grew up on a farm. Isn't that kind of a conflict of interest with what you're telling us?

Her response was that you cook beef so it's okay. Yes because most people eat their chicken raw.

I know what you're thinking it was the alcohol. But she really is like crazy about this stuff it's nuts! I mean this person was at a bonfire this last summer and lost her appetite BC she saw a rooster breed a hen while they were free ranging. It was only when I finally explained a chicken or rather a rooster's anatomy to her that she stopped carrying on. BC there wasn't penetration...

Hello they have cattle breed cows and help calve but that was gross?!

I tell ya sometimes I think that people are a waste of time.

My father wants to buy eggs from us his wife won't let them. My sister in law says she wants eggs and then never calls(she likes farm fresh eggs). My aunt wants them but lives too far away and doesn't see why we charge for them since they're "free". Bc it's not like last week we didn't buy 1000 lbs yes you read that right of feed. Which may or may not last us a month.

DH2B's family think we overcharge for the eggs and half of the don't see a difference between store bought and their eggs of course I haven't cracked an egg open for them, shown and explained the differences before.

Yet everyone loved our eggs when we brought devilled eggs to get togethers. Everyone tells us they're beautiful. Idk people are dumb lol. It's true.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, natural selection is a wonderful thing. Thank you Charles Darwin. Maybe in time, all those who insist on eating the worst quality, unhealthiest food, will quietly fade from the planet, leaving behind a race of smarter humans.

If only it worked that way. We have way too many safeguards protecting stupid people like an endangered species or something

Can we please just get rid of warning labels and signs and just let the problem take care of itself? If you live anywhere but a firstworld nation stupid gets you killed or you at least end up learning to be smarter. Not here. Here, if you reach a high enough level of stupidity you get elected to government. Its scary.

Yep only in the States lol let's just say we're preppers but not hard core just that if the semis stopped we wouldn't go hungry lol how many people can say that? I know of quite a few people in neighboring cities that run to the store nearly every day or ever few days because they don't have anything they need. We go once a week if that and if we didn't it's not the end of the world.

We're in Wisconsin so just before Christmas we had a pretty bad blizzard roll through and we needed milk and dog food and wanted to get a few things for a Christmas party we were going to be throwing. Oh my gosh I've never seen anything so crazy half the shelves were empty and they weren't just items that were on shortage either. It was crazy. We got a couple things and left just glad to be getting out of there alive. That is why whenever we can we stock up on things that aren't perishable

Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. 'Nuff said.
