My mother, who knew everything, told me "just wait until the garbage truck goes down the alley and all your eggs have blood spots in them. I have had one egg with a blood spot in all these years.
A gal at work didn't want home grown eggs because she was grossed out by the blood spots.
Where are these blood spots they are so concerned about?

X2…and commercial eggs don't have blood spots?Every so often one of our hens will lay an egg with a blood spot in it...just a tiny one about the size of a pencil dot. If you want to see more about it, check out this article. The one pictured is much larger than what we've ever seen.
Oh, and we don't have an alley for a garbage truck to drive down, so I'm pretty sure that's never caused a blood spot for us, lol.
grade A eggs don't, that's mostly what you find at the store. Mostly the ones with blood or meat spots are used for liquid egg products.X2…and commercial eggs don't have blood spots?![]()
