Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Neighbour: Can chickens get wet when it rains?
Me: No, they have a force field around them.

I remember having two friends over for a home cooked meal once and they both stared at their smart phones silently the whom time.

-_- I thought I was a smartphone addict. I'll admit I'll glance at it occasionally during a social gathering (I usually wait until I'm in he bathroom or something) but really? That's awful.

If I even pull it out at a social gathering I sort of wait until someone else does so we can all get the glancing at our phones over with at the same time. XD

Unless of course I've got someone babysitting my son. Then I'm probably making sure I haven't missed a message saying that he's dead or on the roof or missing or something.

I HAVE NO PASSION AT ALL FOR SPORTS.
My husband's the same. I asked him just now if he knows what major sporting event is coming up and he said, "Um...I don't...know? And I don't care."

He unfortunately cops a lot of crap from guys who seem to think that his lack of SPORTS! GO SPORTS! attitude is somehow an affront to their own masculinity.

I think he'd rather sit at his laptop and write code for my incubator. I can't complain - nerdery is terribly attractive.

WOW,,,

I have never heard the stereotype of men being simple.... Are you sure there is such a stereotype?

I can only speak for the area in which I grew up. That was one of my friend Josh's Five Rules of Life.

1. Fire is hot.
2. Food is good.
3. Good sex is better.
4. Women are evil.
5. Men are stupid.

Perhaps it was only a stereotype in my circle of friends. ;)

I have a burning desire to know if when you wrote neighbours did the spell check try to reject it? I have played competitive scrabble and throw the occasional U into some words, it is completely acceptable in American English but spell check programs seem to ignore that....whew, what an aside that was!

Now about the rules, I would give him an 80% grade which is not failing anyways.

I have decided to adopt most of these rules and add to them.

1. fire is hot
2. food is good
3. Alcohol is a food group
4 sex is a fairy tale
5 Human females over 11 are evil
6 Chickens make the best friends
7 watching sports is a waste of precious time
8 life is not worth living without a good dog

I felt a need to change them slightly as to not be called a plagiarist.

I hear y'all on the sports thing.

I grew up in the heart of Buckeye country, insanity at it's finest.

Moved here from Roll Tide country.

And you want to talk about boggarting the news? Fire Big Bo in Big Red Country with a game left in the season! 20 minutes of a 25 minute news cast 4 times a day for two weeks was Football this, and football that.
Blah. Then a new guy was hired and THAT sucked up the news time.

No, he didn't want me to leave. I was invited and he warned me that he hadn't turned on the heat. I knew his house would be chilly, but not THAT cold. It was an unusually chilly night to begin with. --BB

I think my tongue-in-cheek attitude didn't come through in my post. I was trying to express the Idea that he wasn't a very welcoming host; normally, the way he treated you is reserved for people you're trying to get rid of. But, knowing it was NY Eve and that you'd brought along some entertainment, it was clear you were invited. Thus, the response to the treatment you got: APPALLING!

Sorry I missed the tongue-in-cheek aspect of your response. It's hard interpreting what people write, but I get your drift. He's sort of a dry individual to begin with some humor. Sometimes, he just acts like a big kid. Even his house reflects it. Total minimalist, with very little furniture and no personality. Other than a few model ships that he has on display, their is no reflection of his other interests.

For me, on the other hand, you walk up into this camp and it music history all over the place, and literally everywhere. So much stuff that you can barely see any baseboard...LOL!. That's just me, and I like being surrounded by all my toys. Thousands of LP's, reels, cassettes, 8-tracks, instruments and equipment. Not to worry, I do have digital stuff, too. As a plus, I'm pretty good with a soldering gun and can read schematics to repair all this old stuff. Very few shops left these days that work on older technology.

I apologize for going off the beaten chicken path, but I think one's home should reflect who they are. When folks see my new chicken run and TV deck, which is just about finished, they will be shocked and that will just add another aspect of who I am. It's a very unconventional design, completely from scratch, and it will be low/unobtrusive since I live in an HOA (Home Owners Assassination). Very few know that I grew up on a farm in the 50's/60's back in Pennsylvania and still to this day have an interest in chickens. My electronics and chickens will be hobbies to keep me busy when I retire in about two years. If I can figure out this phone, I will upload some pics and post them in the coop/run section..

Here I go again, writing another essay. My place is just a hot mess, and hope to never have to move all this stuff again. --BB

I'm in Alabama and our news is more like a big commercial--more telling me what's coming on later tonight than anything going on in the world. And weather? Ha! They talk so fast you can't understand what they're saying and they tell you more about what the weather was than what it will be. So, I don't watch.

No problem. I wondered if my post accomplished what I was going for. Guess not. Oops! I'm a very facetious person, so it's difficult for me to write in a straightforward style ... Unless, of course, I'm writing a psychoeducational report for work. Maybe that's why I have my tongue in my cheek the rest of the time. OMG. You really *are* serious about music! Do you play that gorgeous piano?
