Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Wow. some people are just really ignorant.

That same person thought it was really weird that we feed our chickens leftover chicken meat sometimes. I mean, they're not going to start eating each other even though they've had chicken!

There are some on here that post that their chickens are pets and refuse to think about eating them others won't eat their chickens eggs, I have no idea why you would have chickens and not eat them or eat their eggs.....

Perhaps for the same reason most of us don't eat our cats and dogs. For some people it would be like eating a loved one.

Those people are dumb. I could understand not wanting to cull and eat your hens when their laying days are over bc of the emotional attachment, but not eating their eggs seems just plain wasteful. They are gonna lay 'em anyway....unless you don't eat eggs, which would make having a pet chicken kind of silly....

I got the chickens for the eggs and because I dont want to be part of the way the hens are treated in the big egg factories. I want to provide the best conditions for them to be happy chickens. I told myself that if I can eat meat from my birds (extra roosters) I'll stop eating meat. I'm still working in that part.

Some people keep the chickens for fun and companionship, and feed the eggs back to the hens. I'm not saying this is what I do (I eat the eggs), but it is another way of thinking, not necessarily "dumb". People in other parts of the world think we are dumb for not eating dogs.

I agree that it is just up to the individual. For example I have 3 horses that are just converting hay. While they have a purpose as they can be ridden and work cattle etc... according to anyone who has ever eaten them, equine meat is delicious. To me I could never eat them but I would be more likely to if it was some horse who I had never met and had a bond with. To some having a pet of any animal type is senseless ecspecially once they are no longer productive. It is like the difference between a cow which we eat readliy and a horse, or a Koi and a river carp or a parakeet and a chicken. Culture dictates what is acceptable to eat as does production costs. As people become more "civilized", we become more and more removed from where our food originates and just choose not to think about it.

Yeah, chooks are wonderful creatures, seems sad to imply vegans (think that's the right term) can't enjoy their company too without being thought dumb or weird.

I'm in what some of you probably consider the dumb for not eating the animals themselves catagory but I have this thing where I can't eat anyone I've met personally lol

i've had some from my friends when they come over, heres a few

"ooo, get it away from me its going to attack me" (its like 1 fifth of your size, get a grip)

"dont give it a worm it will make them sick, they're veggys" (er no!)

" im never eatting another egg, it might have a chick in"

"chickens cant fly, all they can do is run" ( i know they arnt brilliant flyers but come on, give them a little credit some are really good)
