This has probably already been said but.... One of my customers ( I sell my eggs ) would refuse to eat my Araucana's green egg because he thought it was rotten or something wrong, even though his wife broke one open, cooked it and ate it right in front of him and guess what.....she didn't die!!!!

I also had some one say- "Don't leave the eggs under a broody over night, they will get warm and go off." .lolololol.

Ive been on food stamps and NO you CAN NOT buy anything non human food wise (and you can't buy prepared hot prepared foods <like from the deli> You can't get cash off the cards, so yes feeding chicken to the dog is cheaper and I can be darned sure if anyone told me I'd have to get rid of my dog because I was on assistance I've have probably beaten the crap out of them... to put it nicely. Of course if they are feeding raw buying whole chickens or whatever is on sale with bones, heck even if you're cooking it just take out the bones before giving.

I too have been on that and Ill tell you ive bought bird food and dog food including cat food with the cash. they give you money in cash depending how many people are in your house that live with you. if you live with two people you get around 63 dollars in cash in which you can buy food for the animals with and you get around 163 to 185 dollars on the card in which you can not buy animal food with.

well, I have a long time friend that her mother LOVES my hens eggs. She does not shares them and she tries to make them last forever. Last night I took to her 20 eggs (blues, greens, browns, dark brown-bcm- and white) My friend told her mother..." mom, I will really like to eat a few fried eggs. Her mother got all serious and firmly told her she will have to wait to tomorrows breakfast. My friend tells me that even then she is only allowed ONE egg and no one should dare to take one of the black coppers eggs. Those belong to the mother and no one else. She even makes a ritual for them. She waits for everybody to be at work and then she cooks the black coppers marans eggs , sits in her porch with a cup of tea and enjoys her breakfast.

Even if she is having a bad day or is feeling bad her face lights up each time I take her eggs.
She even tells people that with my eggs you should not add salt because they have so much flavor you will ruin it with the salt. She advices to leave the salt for those watery tasteless grosery store eggs. LOL

It's nice to see someone to value so high your beautiful eggs.

Hehe, yeah, my mother in law asked to try some a few weeks ago. Ever since every Monday my wife comes home with an empty carton, and I get a text," sooooo how's those chickens doing?"

She's hooked.

As I said before depends on the ages of the family members as well. My aunt lived with her two sons and a daughter. They got stamps on the card no cash. When her granddaughter moved in the cash was added thru AFDC. No minors no money. And yes I too have been on foodstamps and have experience with them.

My Mom is like that too. She grew up on a Poultry Farm and love real eggs. She was here a couple of weeks ago and said she has left a dozen egg at her Mountain place and was not able to get up there because of the Snow. I asked her why she did not bring them down with her and she said: "Because I do not like to share them!".

Oposite of a dumb thing to say but a bit dumb to let them sit in the Mountains for so long.....

Quote: Really? I have worked in grocery stores for 20 years and also as a kid my family was on food stamps for a short time and I can tell you with 100% certainty that if you got cash for pet food or anything else as a food stamp benefit you where involved with some illegal activity.... there are legitimate programs that give a person cash that is loaded onto the same card that persons get their food stamp money on but that is not "food stamp money". The federal USDA rules wouldn't allow that....

Im in CA and I have seen signs posted in windows at such places as McDonalds etc that now take the ebt card so food stamps are being used to eat out, some doughnut shops and delis also have these signs posted in their windows so something as changed in last couple of years.

As far as the illegal activity Uglyduckling was stating that the cash aide was used to purchase the pet foods not the food stamps. A lot of cashiers themselves receive food stamps. Laws and rules change state to state. My child works for the welfare office. Some states allow braces on medi-cal others do not. I have had tenants that state they get $700.00 a month in stamps. So rules as always are meant to be broken.

Concerning the foods stamp/ cash, I know that the cash part can be used on anything food and non food items, the cash can be used for rent, soap, shampoo anything the person who is receiving the benifents wants.. They can even take the cash part out at ATMs.. I know where I live they where tring to put a liimit of how much cash they could withdraw per day, as some where using thier cash at several of the casinos... I know my brother uses is food stamps for pizza at pappa murphys..(it's uncooked, so I guess that's why he can use his food stamps on it) I'm sure there is still some fraud, but there's always someone who tries to cheat the system.. Back to our chicken talk...:):):$

just for fun, I looked up chickens on yahoo answers so that I would have so stuff to post on here. Some on asked "how do you clone chickens to be hatched with out beaks or talons?" that also asked if it was ok to feed chicken to their chickens. everyone who commented were like "NO! that's so evil!!!!" kind of my reaction too.
