Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

If you are at someone's house how would you know whether you are eating fertilized eggs or not? Do you inspect the broken eggs before they are cooked? Even if your host is cooking with store bought eggs it doesn't mean they aren't fertilized. Some people, like my mother, always buy fertile eggs.

I never said it was rational: as I said, it's a food aversion. I don't try to make sense of it, it just "is what it is". Growing my own and driving all over to buy only oranically grown or pastured meats/animal products/fruits/veggies has caused a food aversion of it's own. I eat at very few people's homes, and the ones I do eat at grow their food like I do. Plus, I rarely eat out. I've become so conscious of where my food comes from that I get turned off on foods pretty easily now, unless I know it's sustainably grown. Fortunately, I live in a very small community in the mountains, so it's not difficult to do. However, you can be SURE I don't eat food from the school cafeteria.

Just getting older, weirder, and cantankerous, I guess. 7

My mom has a food aversion to fried eggs and bacon right now. She's tried to eat them, but can't. It's from some "uncured" bacon that they got and tried last month. She got so sick from it and is upset that she can't even eat the regular bacon they normally eat. So she's having to boil her eggs right now.

I had an aversion to any citrus soda for years after mom gave me some when I was sick as a kid. Just the slightest taste would get me.

A friend came over recently and wanted to pat a chicken. I picked one up for her and told her don't worry, it won't peck you. She replied, "Oh I know, only the pregnant ones peck people." I did not know what to say.

Quote: With great difficulty. I just said mildly, "Is that so?" As soon as I could get away I fell into a fit of laughter.

Hopefully, we learn something new every day. Doesn't have to be correct, just new. Seems that was your *new* thing for the day. (That theory is wrong on so many levels, it's impossible to know where to start.)

I know! I was tempted to give her a lecture on the differences between bird and mammal reproduction but managed to control myself. Oh well, at least she didn't yell "I'm scared of roosters!" at my hens, like my neighbour did a while back. These people are amazing.
