Quote: I've observed that people in general have a really poor sense of just how much it takes to accomplish things... And I don't just mean livestock, but everything. People have this perception that things like food, handicrafts, furniture, artwork, etc. are all conjured up by a magical Stuff Fairy that makes sure there is always the perfect number of chickens in the supermarket and shirts on the clothes racks.
I do what I can to help educated folks, and it really is shocking to them to realize that one or two chickens isn't going to give you more than one or two eggs a day, or that, yeah, artwork has to actually be CREATED by someone--it doesn't just exist on its own.
once had a family friend who named their son Havoc. Ironically, he was a very well-behaved, sweet child that was a treat to be with.Quote:Never heard of someone calling their kids "sin"LOL boy when my sin grows up do I have stories to hold over his head he he, but I guess it could be considered that![]()

Exactly. It takes a lot of work and time to accomplish such things, as well as numbers. That and mass scale production has a lot to it! lol I wonder what they would think of the mass scale waste as a result of that productionBut.... I do have to sell eggs. I get way too many, but its needed for the meat quantity. It helps offset feed cost though.
Yeah people don't want to pay for art either. So I am not even trying to produce it for such things. I found a loophole that works better a 'Graphic Novel'. I am doing multiple pieces for a book I am writing and get to stick it all in one place instead he he. And if it gets published I will get paid![]()
Dito... definitely not worth it. Which is sad its that mass production and things being so dirt cheap that hurt the individuals chances. Even My photography doesn't do so hot.. No one want to pay for the work. But after they spend all that gas to go to a photo studio like JC penny they blow a ton of money and find I would have been a better bargain with far more options. not to mention local. The gas money alone cover the cost of my service plus prints! *sigh*I design merchandise and sell it through a 3rd party to earn royalties. I design what I want when I want. I tried doing custom artwork for a while, but people want way too much for what they're willing to pay me, and I had to back off. If I was better at saying "no" it wouldn't be so bad, but I end up putting in a whole day on a $15 piece, and I can't live on that.
Folks who tell me 40 is too many need to visit a commercial chicken farm sometime. If that doesn't put them off eating eggs and chicken for life, they're welcome to buy some from me instead!
