I had the conversation beforewith a friend that it disgusting to eat eggs from yout chicken butt, that girl also buys and eata eggs ..
My mom said what do you want with four chicks you will be throwing a kot of eggs away... yeah, because none of our friends would like free, free range organic fed eggs ... hnnn

Well, not so much that it was a dumb thing, but recently we found out that my 8 year old granddaughter's favorite little chick, Sweet Charlotte, as she named her, is actually a Charlie.  When I told her, she looked at Charlotte/Charlie and said, ""Oh, Charlotte.  Why'd you have to turn into a boy?  Don't you know that's a good way to get a trip to Freezer Camp?"  Yeah, Charlie - how dare you switch genders when we weren't looking!
I LOVE her reaction! Has she ever heard anyone else say that before? Quite a witty little girl you've got on your hands!

On another note, why do the sweet ones always have to be boys!

So....anyone say anything dumb about chickens lately, and not about insurance?

Oh, I dunno :D In the house? We have house chickens on here!

I found Nugget on the bed, bad Nugget!

Threw her out, turned around & she's back on the bed :th

She has her own thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/867309/my-hen-seems-abnormal

She's also having egg laying issues, no shell or soft shelled eggs. Poor girl, won't accept her calcium. :(
I'm sorry to hear about her egg difficulties. Can you give her tums?
Does she get outside at all? Perhaps it is a vitamin D deficiency?
I keep my babies inside the house at night. Silly things, I think I broke them. They spend all day outside, not one dust bath, as soon as I bring them in, they are dust bathing on the towels/sheets I have laid down for them.

I have no idea where she heard it, unless she overheard one of us say it, which is entirely possible. She's so cute - comes over every day, snow or shine, to see the chicks and sometimes she brings treats.

Oh, and there's nothing sweet about Charlie now. He's becoming a somewhat bossy little booger. He was the tiniest one of the Buff Orpingtons when we got them, and he walked with a decided limp. I started him on vitamins and extra TLC and he no longer has the limp, but he is still the smallest. Katie named her Sweet Charlotte - I think because of his special needs and tinier size he was easy to pick out from all the others of his breed in the brooder. She has a baby sister with Spina Bifida, so she is extra aware and compassionate to any creature who has a rough start.

that's really wonderful that she's full of empathy at a young age. What a blessing!

In the end, the sanitary people will be hungry.
Can I quote you?

We could go back a hundred or say pages when we were talking about a bug's private parts being bigger than his body. That was a fun tangent.
That was a fun tangent! Hurt my brain...but fun!

You know something that has always kind of puzzled me? How come broody hens can hold it, but chickens who aren't broody can't? Where does the magical poo-once-a-day power come from?
It's what happens to all females when they become mamas...superhero qualities that appear magical. Like being able to not throw up when you clean up all that poop that squirted out the diaper.
