Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Ok since people insist on bringing this up, I think it's a horrible human being that would wish harm and death on their neighbor just because they disagreed with them. What if tge neighbor was a doctor who took the vow of "do no harm" seriously? Or for that matter, a christian who truly believes in "thou shalt not kill"? Do they deserve to be hurt because of your personal beliefs? How twisted.

Maybe the sign will urge the neighbor into getting their own security and will prevent something that could have happened sign or not sign? As 7 Biddies said, it's meant to be funny or make a point. The sign was not meant to actually convince someone to rob their house. And the sign that says the homeowners will shoot the survivors seems like it's more of a joke, but could be used to scare people off their property. mJust keep in mind robbing a house and just shooting someone on your property (that isn't armed) are both illegal.

I think I have posted this before, but worth mentioning Before my venture into chikenhood I was at my mom's twin sister's house and their brother is with me and my Aunt in the yard and a chicken walks by wth some feathers missing he tells me something is wrong with her chicken I see nothing "wrong" with it and told him it is probbably molting (he had grown up on a farm with chickens on it, I am a "city kid" whom lived in the county, no farm, no farm type animals etc.). He told me I was wrong and he called over to aunt and asked her what was wrong with her hen, "she's just molting" before he said another word I just look at him and said "told ya" forceing him to take full blame for hist dumb question.

I'm sure those parents that told the kids they ate their candy thought they were being funny and not mean. Why did you get so upset about that when it was all in fun?

It upset me a lot. I know kids cry all the time, and over the strangest things, and their crying can be manipulative (that and puking or pooping are their only powers, so ...). And I didn't even have enough candy as a kid to develop a taste for it so wouldn't have cared if someone else ate "mine." But to have someone TRY to make me cry upsets me to the bone to this very day.

Feelings are real, even if they are foolish, and making entertainment of someone else's pain seems downright sick to me. Sadistic. Dangerous.

Underlying all that, to not be able to trust your parents can make childhood terrifying. There is a difference between creating a mystery around some shared & carefully constructed magic / illusion like the easter bunny, tooth fairy and santa ... but that is vastly different, IMO. Kids' brains should really be allowed to work on things besides "how is my parent going to mess with me today?" That noise blocks a lot of developmental windows, IMO.

I am mean according to a former co-worker, every time she whined and cried and complained over some simple stupid thing I would just point out a simple (altho sometimes difficult to swallow truth or solution to the problem) she would say I was mean. I guess she wanted pity and not a straight answer to tough problem. sometimes the rough answer is the only one thing makes sense. got a cancerous tumor that is easily cut out? cut the thing out, mess up and need to accept a plea deal and spend the next few months in weekend jail, pack a bag and get used to the color orange. simple as that.

Don't tell anyone, but I hard boiled some bought eggs, and one of them was partially developed (no discernible chick, just the initial veining/branching).

It was really weird, when I opened it up, the yolk wasn't hard, it was the color of a cooked yolk, but still liquidy, molten grossness. I told my friend that I get my eggs from...she stopped selling her eggs until she gets her broodies in line.

Put me off eggs for a minute, lol.
But if I had never incubated eggs and been familiar with the process, I probably never would have even recognized that's what it was....just.."man, that egg must have been bad or something, that was WEIRD!"
Gulp, yikes!

She needs to get her egg collecting in line ;-)
......that's like saying the dog who runs loose and kills chickens is a bad dog, when it's the owners who need to keep their animals contained.

um...proper management of broodies is taking responsibility for the problem? I'm not seeing your line of thought as accurate here, sorry I disagree.

don't think too deep into it...the sign is suppose to be humorous not serious

The sign is not indicative of someone who personally does not want to use a gun. It is indicative of someone who wants to prevent me from using the best tool possible to defend my family, someone who wants to actively put my family in harm's way. I think someone like that deserves to have that sort of sign pointing at them. If you want to ban guns, you shouldn't have a problem with people knowing you don't have guns.
