Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Huge argument with some of my relatives about the black skin and meat. Even after taking pictures of a male after butchering I still had some issues. Pictures of the chicken noodle soup followed. They now don't doubt me.

I agree!  How could you go through your entire life and be nearing the age of retirement and not realize that a chicken is a bird??  If you really want to be blown away, ask people where pickles come from.  The amount of people that think pickles grow on bushes/trees is astounding. 

I have had the same discussion about plums/prunes and grapes/raisins believe it or not. Sheesh.

I'm going to have to check that out. My husband keeps saying that our little OEGB girl should be a house chicken lol. She always comes running to be held and cuddled when you own the coop door. But then again, being in the land of Giants id run too! We only have 2 bantams and 15 LF. The other bantam is a OEGB roo who is always strutting and crowing and dominating everyone. Little Cookie is always just getting stepped on and dodging all the big feet around her.

yeah i worry about the two bantams i have. all the layers are tiny chicks now but in two months they will tower over the bantams i hope every thing will be ok

We have one bantam Cochin. He does fine with the rest of he flock. But we had a couple other bantams we thought were too little & timid to mix in, so we re-homed them rather than build hem their own coop & run.

Here is ruffles. He is great comic relief. You should see him try to mate.

I gave a friend a dozen eggs, all washed in an egg carton. He looked inside and thanked me, saying how much he loved farm fresh eggs and how excited he was to eat them. Then he took out all the white eggs. I asked what he was doing and he said, "Oh, the white ones aren't natural."

"What do you mean?"

"Those are artificial. They're bleached, or at least come from industry chickens. Only the brown ones are natural."

"Maybe in the egg industry they do things differently, but on my farm the egg color is dependent on the breed."

He looked at me funny, closed the egg carton with the brown eggs and said, "Oh." He never took the white eggs home with him.
