Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

I got to thinking about it, and with all of the banks and the SF stock exchange around here, maybe I should have a business where they run with both the bulls and the bears? I suspect that the stock for running with the elephants might be too expensive for a startup. B^)
Getting bulls should be easy enough, but a bear would be a bit trickier. Then again, gotta figure that there's an animal trainer somewhere that would have a bear that they would trust to saunter along with a crowd, provided they take a few precautions with it like a muzzle and make sure he's got a big full belly.

How about Komodo Dragons, Badgers, Tazmanin Develils or my favorite Wolverines ; )

My dogs have a fall, hair that goes over their eyes, and a beard. I cannot believe how many people walk up to a strange 100-150 pound dog and without saying anything to the owner, start pawing the hair around to find their eyes. One dog used to close his eyes and they couldn't find them. It got so I'd tell people we removed the eyes when we docked the tail. OMG- and people believed it!!!

One of my current dogs is trained to ignore or look away from people talking to him. My dog, my rules. Why would you get mad because a dog ignores you? Especially when legally you are not to interfere with the dog. Oh and they tell me "All dogs love me" . Really?

I'm beginning to think there should be a test for common sense to be allowed out in public. We'd have deserted streets and businesses though.

In Finland it's customary to always ask "Is it okay if my dog comes over to say hello?" before letting your dog approach another dog. It is a question which by custom is always answered with "Yes.". We however didn't want our dogs to learn to run up to every dog that we meet on a walk, so we taught them to ignore other dogs. People were almost shocked when we answered no to their question. It's just something you don't do here

LOL- I can imagine. I've shocked people here and it's not customary to even ask. The expectation is either a stuffed toy, a Disney dog or Lassie. Animals, no matter the species, can be so much more than we expect or even realize.

Don't you just love the "He's completely harmless" people who let their dogs come right up to you too. Well what if mine isn't?

They want anything that might not like their Little Poopsie kept hidden away in a jail. Not realizing that Little Poopsie has horrid dog manners and they have no idea what he's saying in dog. They can't translate.

Quote: That's the problem with small dogs, it's easy to just pick them up when needed instead of just training them properly (we're guilty of that with our Dachshund too). With larger breeds, you have to keep them in check, our labs are pretty obedient. I trust them enough to keep them unleashed pretty much anywhere, including the yard with our chickens. I would only trust the other one alone with the chickens though (so far, we've only just begun familiarizing the dogs with the chickens).

My dog Gabby is a 135 lb. St. Bernard/GSD/Malamute mix who is a sweetheart, but kind of protective. Some days she likes dogs, others she doesn't. BUT she upon first viewing another dog on an off-day will issue a growl that can only be interpreted as "I am going to eat you if you come closer." Bless her, it works every time stopping folks and their dogs dead in their tracks. Some days it's nice to walk alone. At least she communicates well....
