Thank you, she was an Isa Brown, and layed HUGE double yolk eggs. Is it possible she became egg bound, and died? She was only about 23 weeks old. No sign of poor health, rest of flock is fine. No sign of attack... Even from the rooster...

Quote: And as we all know chickens are extremely conniving and clever. Mine watch for my whereabouts and then go in the opposite direction before circling the house to get to the front garden which they know is out of limits. The reason I know they know is because when I spot one in my garden and they KNOW I spotted them they take of flapping wings and clucking before I can chase them out. They also remember the best way to go to avoid me chasing them

I heard it again this morning from a woman I bought some "hatching eggs" from..
I asked about how many roos she had in with her girls (day 10 and NONE of the eggs are showing ANY signs of life at all)..

She replied "oh we don't want roosters.. they lay rooster eggs. We only keep hens so all the eggs will be girls..........."

sad thing is.. this isn't the first time I've been told this.....

(Note: Not *you* ... the lady selling the eggs.)

I associate a lot of people with stupidity. My birds are not smart, but they have more sense than most of the mouth breeding knuckle draggers I have met.
