The agonizing hours of waiting...and here we go! The broody saved it!

The egg looked bad, but the membrane was not brown. The problem that leads to stuck chicks is un absorbed egg yolk. If the chick does not have yolk on it, it will almost never stick.

Dumb things: my adult daughter, when I showed her a little wind egg(a very small egg that is often laid right after a molt) wanted to know if I had washed the egg. I asked her if it looked dirty. She told me that of course it was dirty--it came out of a chicken!

You should have replied, (if she has kids) was your son/daughter dirty when he/she was born? :p

Well.... yes they were as such. Not "dirt" dirty... but they certainly needed to be washed and cleaned up.

About the eggs... I most always wash my eggs unless, that is, I'm feeding them to the dog.

Everyone likes to imagine they were born under the rainbow. Don't ruin the fun.

I was telling a woman I work with about the eggs I had put in my incubator and she asked me where I got my eggs from. I told her my chickens. She then said " We'll don't eggs you eat come from a different type of chicken then one that has eggs for babies? I told her that the eggs you buy at the store come from chickens that have no males but my eggs are probably all fertile because I have roosters but you can still eat the eggs. She was very surprised.

Haha, I have a Salt and Pepper too. As well as a Spice, and Ginger.

- Oh also, Every time my sister comes over, and if I make her something, she always makes sure it's not blue eggs! She swears that blue eggs come from diseased chickens, and that they have some horrible virus,    Oh well, more for me!

You will be interested to know that blue eggs can blame their origin on a virus......

Oh I know, I made the mistake of telling her that, and she's convinced that it must have been a disease causing virus ( when I believe it was quite harmless, and simply fed off of their DNA, and caused it to mutate) and that they must still have it.
