I love the look of a dark orange yolk, soooo tasty.

We were just staying at a hotel with my cousins. For breakfast they ate some eggs, and I said "Are you really going to eat that?" They told me that that is what all eggs look like. Sure, no white pale yellow eggs are what all eggs look like...

At the butcher shop I work at hamburger is made out of any piece of meat that doesn't classify as a cut(meat between ribs, or cuts that the customer doesnt want like stew or brisket etc) and any trimmings off of other cuts. As to stupidest comment I ever got was back in Highschool. I supplied all our teachers with eggs on the weekly bases but one. At first she was thrilled to take the first dozen but the next day she brought them back with a few missing saying the yolks are too yellow, she cant eat that thats not natural to have that colour! She said she threw up after she saw how yellow they were....... She said she will go back to eating normal store eggs since they have proper looking yolks(anemic almost white yolk is proper? really?).
Wow!

I had some this morning that were nearly orange. I call yolks like this liquid gold.

Funny, I ask people if they ever had fresh farm eggs before and warn them about peeling boiled very fresh eggs, the yolk color, shell color and the taste... the diffrence between my duck eggs and chicken eggs-

Then they know before even opening the eggs...

and they appreciate the info

*sigh*

Ya'll know -YOU- we not born chicken/egg experts either-

I still think there is a % of these questions that are -not- stupid that should get honest answers not stupid/sarcastic ones...

There is lots of misinformation perpetuated about our lovely chickens, like they need a rooster or they have to smell, or they lay in the AM, that fertile eggs are different (in nutrition) then infertile eggs or a chick can hatch at any time form any egg... these things are not true but genuinely accepted. Someone is not -stupid- for believing something they have been exposed to as truth over and over again.

I am up to page 35...hilarious!!

I have one...
I have a girl who works for me. She lives on a ranch. Her husband is the ranch manager person. They have free range chickens all over the place. This girl is very familiar with animals and ranching.
She said the other day "One of the hens gave me 6 eggs yesterday! And I was like good job girl!! 6 eggs in one day!!"
I was so puzzled by her saying this I didn't even respond. I was amazed that she actually thought her hen could lay 6 eggs in one day.
A few days later I was talking to someone else about broody hens and how many nest boxes one needs and was explaining how hens all will lay in one spot. It is kind of the thing they do...find a good spot and everyone make a deposit of an egg. Then I realize my rancher girl is listening and she goes "Oh!! I didn't know that!" She grew up with chickens all over the place but I guess no one ever explained that part to her?
lol...

Not necessarily a stupid thing said by my wife...actually pretty funny, in a sick sort of way!

My oldest hens are at 15 1/2 weeks, and should start laying any time. My other half told them - yeah, you're reading that right - told them that if they don't start laying soon, they're going to find themselves sitting on a grill with a beer can stuck up their butt!

She, of course, wasn't being serious - she loves watching my chicken project, and has become very protective of the girls!

call me crazy , but when my mama hen laod her first eggs I could not eat them. not because of where they came from, bit that she was my baby and it was wrong . lol now its no big deal. it took me a long while. I love my feathered lovies!

I can't eat some of the eggs my bantams lay. Because they are just too cute! I mean look at this one: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/690080/look-at-this-itty-bitty-egg-so-cute

I mean, I don't actually think I could have eaten that, but I wouldn't if I could anyways!

This little egg of yours happens sometimes. There will be no yolk in this egg, only white. You can leave it out to dry it and it will last forever and not stink. You could decorate it if you wanted and hang it up somewhere.
