Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

I mentioned to someone that I had a lot of cockerels that I was growing up to process because nature gives us 50/50 boys to girls and ya just don't need that many boys.
She said..." Oh well all you have to do is never hatch the pointy eggs. Eat them cuz they are gonna be boys and only hatch the rounder eggs." I told her "thatsss.... an old wives tale". She said "no no...we did it when I was a kid and it was right every time". How could I tell this woman that what she has believed her whole life is totally nonsense? lol

What I'm wondering about is how she knew those "pointy" eggs they ate contained males?

I also got the "Just don't hatch the pointy eggs and you won't get roosters" advise too. The other was " Use a young cockerel and you'll get more pullets and older roos give you more cockerels". I tried to explain that the hen is the one responsible for what sex each embryo is...All I got was a blank stare as a response....LOL.

My Dominique only lays (very) pointed eggs, almost cylinrical sometimes, and almost all of her chicks have been female, 2 out of 30 or so. I use her for making sexlinks, so i know what they are when they hatch.

And my dark cornish i had layed almost round eggs, like i golf ball, hers chicks where abouut 50/50 though.

Did not know that, I figured that like male humans it is the males fault if you have a boy.

Tell him his bias only works if he's refused his entire life to eat eggs for that reason! Additionally, the egg did NOT come out of a chicken's butt any more than a baby comes out of a woman's butt. Chickens do NOT **** eggs! It came out of her vent, which is made for the "sole" purpose of delivering eggs, and eggs ONLY. Plus, the chicken did not have to be slaughtered, having its blood and guts removed and cleaned up, like the chicken meat he eats!

It's no worse than milk from cows or apples from trees. Sheesh!

Please, let's set the record straight and not perpetuate this silly idea of eggs coming from chickens' butts.
