aoxa, my husband also makes a great quiche!  My husband only allows me one pc. because it's for our son, who loves it, but I love it too! It's so unfair!  I hope he'll make more of 'em when we get our own eggs ;P  LOL

OH man, cheeka, I'm gonna guess that if that should happen to me, I will have no problem putting him in the stew pot!

Pretty funny, hecatesmoon!
It's so much better when the eggs in that quiche are from your own chickens. It's about the only time I'll eat duck eggs as well. :drool

She makes them in these little tart crusts.. like the premade ones.. Oh God it's so good.. I could eat 6 in a sitting

I live in Ecuador where there are commercial (brown) eggs or "campo" (mixed color) eggs available. People will pay more than twice as much for the multi-colored eggs, never asking any questions about the chickens' environment or diet. Quite a frustration for a friend of mine who has free-ranged chickens but has to sell the eggs for the lower price because they are brown. It's surprising that even in a rural area, people have so many misconceptions about what is important/healthy about farm products.

Co-worker: Are your eggs vegetarian?
Me: ????
Co-worker: Do you let them eat meat?
Me: Oh, ya, when I let them out in the yard, I tell them that they can only eat the grass and weeds and not eat any bugs, crickets, or any other critters.
Co-worker: Oh good, you can put me down for a dozen a week.
Me: (rolling eyes)........just sayin'.....

LOL

My chickens are definitely omnivores. You should have seen them after Thanksgiving with the meat

I had a random turkey skeleton in my yard the next day. Why do labs use beetles to clean bones.. Chickens will do it in half the time :gig

I stopped after work to see some friends, (same friends who took in 6 of my rescue chicks) and they wanted me to see how beautiful the cockerel is now that he is really feathering in... so sure... well... I got my first flogging. "Boss" leapt up, got ahold of my finger and kicked the crap outta me! I'm scratched and have a few bruises forming...

my friend? stood there like

! she couldn't believe that he could be "mean" he's only 6 months old, and very strong... he's gonna be a handful, and forget it when he develops spurs!

I knocked him back... he charged again, knocked him back again, and again he charged... I'm done with Boss.
We had a similar incident here. I had (note past tense) a beautiful Easter Egger Rooster, hatched this spring and his spurs weren't even fully in yet. He was big, gorgeous, and very good at his job. Problem is he kept attacking my 2 year old grandson. At first we were going to butcher him, then decided against it because he was so very good at fertilizing eggs. This last Sunday my husband and I were doing some upgrades in the hen house and while he was outside working on the roost, I was inside doing some draft stopping. I heard the *thunk* and then my husband calls me....had that sound of dread in his voice. That beautiful stubborn attacking rooster had attacked the wrong person at the wrong time. He attacked my husband while he had a 1" x 2" board in his hand. Hubby, without thinking, turned around and whacked him a good one. Needless to say there's now a nice rooster in the freezer. Good thing though, a friend has been hatching eggs from my chickens and I can get another rooster from her....hopefully just as pretty, not in such hurry to attack.

That is beyond true. I've seen myy birds eat mice and rats... even the roosters attack innocent cottontails and tear them to nothing but bones and fur.

Wow.. Rabbits? My roosters are sissies when it comes to rabbits. I have this new rabbit named Frankle, and I thought my rooster was going to commit suicide. He egg songed the entire day. Lol

The boys almost always have the same amount of aggressiveness as their dad.
