During Cocci treatment is this NORMAL?

We are on day 3 of Cocci treatment Cordid in the water.... I have noticed two chickens drooling thick clear watery stuff, then going on about their business. Is this a side effect or something new? The two chickens that I noticed doing this are two different ages. One is 11 weeks old and one 8 weeks. The entire flock suffered a fowl pox outbreak in late October... and all were vaccinated...and survived..some still have a few bumps but all are doing great as far as fowl pox.... They were vaccinated the last Tuesday of October. Last Thursday one of the eight weekers died from what looks like cocci. I saw blood in the poo and the chick was lathargic and keeping to himself before dying. 22 week old Bantam died last night... same symptoms...lathargic keeping to herself... diareaha. I saw no blood in her diareaha though... This morning was the first time I saw any watery drool coming out of anyones beaks... I am hoping this is normal for day 3 of the Cordid treatment.. Any suggestions or thoughts welcome. Anyone else experience this during treatment?

We finished our treatment for Cocci Tuesday...... today.... FRIDAY ---- I notice BLOOD in a 9 weeker poo...... Does this mean she did not get enough of the medicated water? Should I retreat her and isolate her...? Need an expert please... HELP! Will my flock ever be healthy again?

One thing I noticed when my chickens had coccidiosis and I was trying to treat them with medicated water - mine weren't drinking enough of it to actually do them any good! I had also treated with an antibiotic (because a secondary infection was diagnosed - clostridium - treated with injected penicillin).

A side effect of a decent dose of antibiotic is fungal/yeast overgrowth in the crop. This can lead to "sour crop" and they tend to have a full/watery crop and might "puke" if they tip forward or bump the full crop. How are their crops? Have you treated with any antibiotics recently?

If coccidiosis is bad, their gut doesn't signal the crop to empty into it, and that can cause sour crop, also. You may need to kill a fungal infection in the crop while treating for coccidiosis. You can make up the Corid as a "drench" solution and squirt some down your birds' throats or dribble it in their beaks to make sure they are actually GETTING the meds, and you can do the same with Apple Cider Vinegar to acidify the crop and knock down any fungal overgrowth.

Add unsweetened cherry or strawberry Kook Aid to their water if they don't seem to be drinking enough.

I would stand back and watch the others for a day or so to see what all of their activity is. Eating being the one to watch closest for.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I lost one 8 weeker and one 22 weeker.... weird... but now the rest are fine. Maybe the second one that died did not get enough water. She was also hiding from a over ambitious 26 week old Roo....

I think the worst is over. I now have everyone on vitamin water....
