Dust bath

I Want to put DE in my chickens dust bath but as I read further it mentioned to use one u can put in food. Is that a thing?If there us I can't find. I'm assuming this is NOT the kind to use? Thanks

I would not use DE anywhere around my chickens. Read the cautions statement and you will find that it is dangerous to breath the dust.

But then .... some folks swear by it. My opinion is use at your, or maybe your chickens, own risk.

DE is a respiratory irritant.

Chickens have very delicate respiratory systems.

DE can cause respiratory issues. Personally I wouldn't use it. Plain dry soil is fine.

I don't use it.
Permethrin 13.3 will work and not harm them like DE can.

To answer your question, there is food safe DE. You can buy it online or find it at a local feed store.

But don't put it in a dust bath, only use when your birds have lice or mites.
