I had the same thing happen! But it was 16 years ago.

Had the funniest episode with the birds today while I refreshed their sand box. The new stuff was lumpy and partly frozen but I placed 2cups of food-grade DE in it anyway and tipped it towards the clean sand box. There was a collective hush as they gathered to watch the delivery, and then they *broke into song*. It was the Halleluhah chorus in whistles. They rocked back and forth until Doe slammed into the top chunk heels first and then it was a free-for-all. I left during this, not sure how much sand would be in the box later on, but they've had a superb mid-winter dusting!

I have to get pics...

Saw this out of my bedroom window yesterday and I tried taking pictures through the window. They aren't very clear but I tried. All five of them decided to dust bath on top of eachother. It made me laugh!

First, let me say how jealous I am that you actually can see the ground where you live. The only outdoor bathing my girls can do is in the snow!

That said, I have an indoor dust bath that one of my RIR's got so carried away in yesterday that even her face was "dusted" when she came out. She was more a Rhode Isalnd Brown.

Yeah, thats the only nice thing about living in the part of Colorado I live in. We get good storms, but it always seems that right after the temp goes up. Everything pretty much melts off within two days, which is good for me because I'm originally from San Diego and I HATE snow and cold!!!

what's the best to make a dust 'bathtub' out of? Leave a pile of dirt and sand out?I've just seen them dig a spot and make them.
Love the pictures!!! They look like a they're wrestling!!!
