Dust Baths

I've been experimenting with different mixes of kid's playsand / food grade DE / woodash / fine loam . The only problem I've found is that they all want to use it at the same time, and there is simply not enough room

I've heard too much calcium can potentially be lethal to young chickens, so it might be best to restrict fun in calcite spills until chickens are older.

Ill expect to see it in stores soon.

lol. After I find a decent recipe, I'll spread it for all chicken-lovers to appreciate!!

The fine loam might be substituted with scorched earth, since i have plenty of it around after making woodash.

Using dirt that has been "scorched" reduces the chances of parasites and other harmful biological agents (thorns, etc.) being present AND dries it out, which is a big plus!

I was wondering if anyone knows if the Dust bath stuff they sell at pet stores for Chinchillas to bath in would be OK for chicks to dust bath in?
