Congrats on your new birds, Celtic Hill. I don't think there are a lot of silvers out there. I imagine you bought them from the couple that was also showing at the Congress last weekend...I was also showing & met them for the first time yesterday, they seemed really sweet! And they are really into their birds.
Yeah, the husband had an Accept, i couldn't place it but i think it was scottish. I put my new birds in the coop in one of my smaller show cages and my duccle roo tried to pick a fight with my Dutch and ripped open his comb. Joy, and it splattered on my dutch roo, so i won't take any pictures until i get him cleaned up. But everyone is fine now, silly chickens. Im super excited to get the pair, i had wanted to get into breeding them in the spring as my show birds, but no one had any for sale. So i got these guys, they look good i think, idk, i got them because they were pretty, lol. Im taking my standard out today and seeing how well the compare. So now i have Duccles, OEGBs (Two vereites) and Dutch Bantams...LOL And im getting longtails in the spring!
Yep, that's them. I talked to them a bit yesterday & it seems like they are working hard to improve the breed/their stock, so I imagine you at least got some good breeding birds to start with. It seems like decent birds are hard to find. I have people contact me all the time wanting Dutch, but I didn't hatch a lot last year & I kept most of the birds for myself. I am really enjoying working with my Dutch--they are really cool little birds--so I think it's awesome that more people are getting interested in them. So hopefully I will see you at some of the shows next year!
