Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Pics
Where can you purchase good quality Dutch bantams?? I have tried a couple of places, with no luck. I know a lot of breeders hold their stock until the Fall, but I can't believe that no one in America has good quality birds that they are tired of feeding. LOL I currently breed and show Serama, and will continue to do so, but I saw two pair at the Delmarva show this weekend, but their owner does not have any available birds right now. If you can help, please let me know. I am in Delaware and am not opposed to driving up to 6 hours for a nice pair or trio. Thanks!!

I am hoping someone can tell me what these color variations are called, or if they are simply happy "mistakes".

^Acki has some very faint goldish linings to those dark neck feathers that don't show so well through this ghetto camera's capabilities.

^Shaniqua is very similar, but darker all over.

Does anyone have pics of the Dutch bantams from Ideal Poultry? I know they probably are crossed with OEGB's but I'm getting some this summer to just have running around the yard.

Here is my pair of Dutch

Looking at these makes me regret selling the trio I had awhile back.:( They are beautiful and I honestly have not come across another one of these since I sold them. I guess Ill blame it on my inexperience in the chicken world. I didnt know how rare they are.

Yea!! I just candled eggs from my Dutch and it looks like we have fertile eggs!! They are under a broody silkie who is my best mom. Next week should be the big week!! 2 Dutch eggs and 3 Serama due. I love chickens!!!

It is surprisingly hard to find specific information on bantams, let alone Dutch bantams. I have four black pullets who are just about to turn into hens. I have heard that they might take longer than other chickens to start laying. About what age should I expect them to start?

It's screaming hot here in Phoenix right now, so they might not lay until the fall anyway.
