Does anyone have experience with the breed Dutch Hookbills? I know they are harder to hatch from my experience and as well as others. I’m more curious how the loci gene works. Seems to be an issue. From doing several batches Ive always had issues around day 20-21 and The last three days of the incubation period. a good fraction amount of eggs always seem to die. I know genetics have a lot to do with the breed but I’ve noticed hatching under a mother hen has a significant higher hatch rate.

I’m pretty sure that hookbill eggs are prone to exploding, I think because the mother turns them less frequently and not on a schedule it helps egg hatchability
